Playoff Nutrition

With hockey leagues going into the playoffs nutrition is going to play a key role in winning championships according to a study at the Chicago Center for Clinical Research. The study, called Working with professional athletes in the rink: the evolution of a nutrition program for an NHL team, concluded that teams which have at least a basic nutritional plan simply have healthier athletes. While that is obvious, it is something that players and coaches do not think a great deal about, and as a result few high school teams actually pay any attention to this part of their training. Nutritional programs not only effect weight and conditioning but mental acuity and prevents and heals injuries faster. The study concludes that there is a quantifiable positive result from having and enforcing a nutritional program, and that teams with such a program will have an edge over the course of a season and in the playoffs.
