Holy Ghost Prep Did Something Different In The Second Half

Holy Ghost Prep finished exactly .500 in the AAA standings. Five wins, five losses, forty-three goals for, forty-three goals against, and exactly ten points. However, in the first half of the season they went 2-3 with an average of 4.4 goals for and five goals against a game. The second half featured a 3-2 record with an average of 4.2 goals a game but a much lower 3.6 goals against. With 43 goals scored it looks like HGP never had a problem putting it in the net, in fact most of the games in the first half were close high scoring affairs, but in the second half of the season goals and even the number of shots taken on HGP dropped. Simply put when they clamped down defensively they created more chances to win.

Wait until the playoffs when freshman goalie Jake Purnell is the starter, youll see the goals against down somewhere between 1-2 per game. Hes the real deal, one of the best goalies around and hes only in 9th grade.
