Hockey, Soccer, And Coaching at HGP

Holy Ghost Prep has found a new soccer coach. What does this have to do with hockey? Nothing. But the new soccer coach is a former HGP soccer player. Granted Chris Fehrle was a star athlete at HGP and went on to play professionally. To emulate that kind of personal success is rare, however, the point in question here is this, to get good coaches you need to retain your local talent. Philadelphia hockey needs to transition more young players to eventually coaching. Too often there are parents or sub-par coaches at the helm because organizations have not retained this talent. Getting former local players to return after college and coach would be a real boon of experience and knowledge for our hockey community.
