CBA Defeats LSCHS
Christian Brothers Academy handed La Salle College High School their first defeat of the season with a score of 5-2. The New Jersey High School Hockey forum had posted the score by 11:25pm that night. CBA scored two unanswered goals in the first period and added one more to make it 3-0 midway through the second before La Salle got on the board. La Salle made it 3-2 at the start of the third but CBA added a fourth goal six minutes later. Head Coach Wally Muehlbronner pulled the Explorers goalie in the closing minutes to generate offense but the classic gamble ended in an empty net goal. In the end 5-2 is just as good as 1-0 as La Salle is no longer undefeated. On the one hand CBA is a great team, and since it seems unlikely that you can go through an entire hockey season undefeated, it makes sense that La Salle could lose to CBA. This is also indicative of just how good New Jersey hockey now is. CBA is leading the elite Gordon Conference and is currently ranked third in New Jersey according to ushsho.com, La Salle is currently ranked number one in Eastern Pennsylvania and leads the ICSHL AAA league. This game screams for scheduling an ad-hoc re-match before the season ends.
