Rumor Has It Ice Hockey Will Join PIAA In 2009

According to internet chatter Pennsylvania high school ice hockey may soon join the ranks of other officially sanctioned Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletics Association sports in 2009. This means a greater amount of organization would be brought to how teams are classified by level and that most high school teams would move from club to full varsity with financial backing from the school. Future state championships would most likely be played in Hershey, PA, where most PIAA sports hold their championships. Some readers may remember that the 2005 Pennsylvania Cup state championships where held at historic Hershey Park Arena. If the state championships did move to Hershey, they would most likely be played there or at the new Giant Center which is home to the Hershey Bears.
