ESPN Radio 1250 on air personality Mark Madden has suggested that high school games should be scheduled before the NHL’s Winter Classic games to test the ice. This means if the Philadelphia Flyers participate in an open rink game that some area high school teams could get to test the ice out for the pros. It seems a forgone conclusion that metro Philadelphia with the 5th largest market in the country should host one of these games. Which means there could be some great exposure as well for local hockey if Madden's plan is adopted.
